Address

Aisles

For safety and as a courtesy to other guests, aisles must be kept clear at all times. Please follow the directions of the usher in your section to remain in your assigned ticketed seat and refrain from standing in the aisles.

Alcohol Serving and Consumption

All alcoholic beverages must be purchased inside DeVos Performance Hall.

Guests are required to act in compliance with all state and local laws governing the purchase, possession, and consumption of alcohol. All guests will be asked to show a valid government-issued photo identification prior to being served alcoholic beverages.

A guest may have in their possession a maximum limit of two alcoholic beverages at any given time. At their discretion, DeVos Performance Hall reserves the right to eject or refuse service to anyone that is visibly intoxicated. Service of alcohol will stop at predetermined times based on the event and at the discretion of DeVos Performance Hall management.

Animals

Animals or pets of any kind are prohibited with the exception of service animals for guests with disabilities and/or special needs. Services animals are welcomed into the building and must remain on a leash or harness at all times.

ATM

A Lake Michigan Credit Union ATM machine is available inside DeVos Performance Hall near the south end of the lobby.

Bags / Purses

DeVos Performance Hall has adopted a limited bag size policy and does not permit bags larger than 12" x 9" x 3", other than those required for medical or parenting needs. All bags will be screened by security personnel. Policy is subject to change based on event policy.

Booster Seats

Booster seats for children are available on a first come, first served basis. Patrons will need to leave a photo ID to check out booster seats. Patrons may check out one booster seat per child, based on availability. Please ask any staff member for assistance if you are interested in checking out a booster seat.

Cameras / Photography

The camera policy varies based on the event. Contact DeVos Performance Hall for event specific information.

Basic policy: No commercial or flash photography of any kind is permitted. Camcorders or any other audio/visual equipment are prohibited unless authorized by promoter or performer.

Specifically, the use of the following equipment is not permitted:
  • Telephoto or zoom lenses of any kind
  • Interchangeable lenses of any kind
  • Monopods, tripods, iPads or selfie sticks
  • Flash equipment of any kind
  • Audio-Video recording
Cleaning Procedures

Staff are conducting sanitizing of high-volume areas throughout the venue. Hand cleaning of all horizontal and frequently contacted surfaces such as door handles, elevator controls, light switches, tables, seating, handrails, restroom fixtures, production equipment and more take place frequently. An aerosolized disinfection solution is applied to frequently touched surfaces and/or an electrostatic disinfection spray is applied on areas such as tables, chairs and carpet in frequently traveled areas.

Carpets are cleaned in all entryways on a regular basis and in high use areas. We apply an EPA-registered, healthcare-grade disinfectant during this step of the process. Large open areas are treated with an aerosolized EPA-registered, healthcare-grade disinfectant into the atmosphere of the area and on horizontal surfaces.

HVAC air filtration system upgrades include installation of bipolar ionization equipment as well as enhanced filters with optimal MERV ratings to provide maximum air purification.

Emergencies / Evacuations

DeVos Performance Hall works on a continuing basis with the Grand Rapids Fire Department, the Grand Rapids Police Department, and other agencies in the development of specific Emergency Procedures Plans. DeVos Performance Hall recognizes that its goal is to provide a safe, enjoyable atmosphere. The use of installed automated security systems, appropriate security operating plans, trained guest services and security personnel will ensure the security and safety of all guests, performers, and employees at DeVos Performance Hall. In the case of an emergency, guests must comply with requests from venue staff regarding theater operations and emergency response procedures.

Enhanced Screenings

Working personnel, including employees, contractors, volunteers and visitors are required to go through an enhanced security screening process including pass through metal detectors.

Patrons will be required to go through touchless security screening checkpoints upon entering the venue for all events. Guests are advised to not attend any events at the venue if, within the past 14 days, they have had any COVID symptoms or have tested positive for COVID-19.

Entry Inspections

All guests entering the arena during an event day are subject to a metal-detector screening and visual inspection conducted by Van Andel Arena security personnel. The purpose of the inspection is to detect prohibited items. Do NOT remove items from your pockets. Do NOT remove your jacket. Do NOT bring in any prohibited items, for a list of what is prohibited see below.

Family Restroom

A family restroom is located on the third floor, on the north side of the theater.

First Aid

Trained emergency medical technicians (EMTs) are available to assist any guest in need at every DeVos Performance Hall event. In the event of a medical emergency, contact a member of our Guest Services or Security staff for assistance.

Food and Beverage

The Amway Grand Plaza Hotel is the exclusive food and beverage provider. All outside food and beverage is prohibited from being brought in. Please note that concessions may not be available for some events.

Gift Certificates

Gift certificates are available for purchase in person at the box office or by phone at 616-742-6600 during regular box office hours. For box office hours, please visit our Ticketing Information page. Gift certificates must be redeemed in person at the box office and may be used for any events sold at the box office.

Listening Devices

The Tele-coil Hearing Loop system in place for the hearing impaired will allow hearing aids to serve as wireless loudspeakers, delivering clear, sharp, customized sound right inside the ear. An induction loop system transmits magnetic energy to telecoil-equipped hearing aids through a wire that surrounds the audience. Patrons simply flip a switch on their T-coil equipped hearing aid and the sound is transmitted directly into their ears.

DeVos Performance Hall is equipped with an assisted listening device system. Receivers are available for most events and are provided free of charge with a valid form of identification. Please ask any staff member for assistance if you are interested in checking out a listening device.

Lost and Found

DeVos Performance Hall management assumes no responsibility for items lost at events. All lost and found items are taken to the DeVos Place Security Office. Guests should ask Guest Services staff during the event to inquire about lost items. After the conclusion of the event, if the lost item is not retrieved, guests may contact DeVos Place Security at (616) 742-6638 to inquire about the lost item.

No Re-Entry

DeVos Performance Hall has a "no re-entry" policy during events. Guests who wish to return a prohibited item to their vehicle or need to exit and re-enter due to personal emergencies, must first make contact with a Guest Services supervisor or manager to make necessary arrangements.

Nursing mothers

Please touch base with a staff member for access to the nursing mothers rooms if you are attending an event at DeVos Performance Hall. A private room will be provided upon request.

Parking

Parking is conveniently located under DeVos Place convention center. Access to the parking lot is on Michigan Street and Lyon Street. DeVos Performance Hall parking is available 24/7 and may be paid by credit or debit cards.

Additional parking may be available in the City-County Building on Monroe Avenue (across from DeVos Place) or in several other parking structures within walking distance.

Vehicles that are too large to fit in a parking structure may be given a permit to park on Scribner Street during the dates of the event. Parking on Scribner Street is available on a first come, first served basis.

The cut out areas in front of DeVos Place and DeVos Performance Hall are intended as drop off zones, not a place to park.

Parking Facilities at DeVos Place are managed by the City of Grand Rapids.

Prohibited Items

The following is a partial list of items that are prohibited at all DeVos Performance Hall events.
  • Outside Food and Beverage
  • Cameras: no flash/professional photography
  • Selfie sticks & iPads
  • Recording Devices
  • Bags: Backpacks, Large Bags, Suitcases, or any purse/bag larger than 12" x 9" x 3". Bags for medical & parenting needs will be permitted.
  • Tripods/Monopods, Laser Pointers, Alcohol, Illegal Drugs, Noise Making Devices, Fireworks, Flashlights, Skateboards/ Rollerblades, Beach Balls, Cans or Bottles
  • Any item that could pose a safety hazard or restrict the enjoyment of another guest
Sensory Bags:

DeVos Performance Hall offers sensory items free of charge for patrons. Please ask any staff member for assistance if you are interested in checking out a sensory item. Identification is required in order to check out items. Identification will be returned to the patron upon return of the item. Sensory items are available on a first come, first served basis.
Sensory items available:
- Wiggle Seat: A specially designed wiggle seat helps calm and focus while allowing those using it to quietly move while working, enabling them to stay on task and be more productive. The sensory cushion is an outlet for excess energy.
- Lap Pad: Super soft fleece weighted Lap Pads are sensory tools that offer deep calming pressure; increasing the ability to focus, relieving anxiety and stress. It gives those with the wiggles a comforting sense of security and has a relaxing effect on the body and mind. Soothing dual textures alleviate excess energy, decrease restlessness, relieve stress and improve attentiveness.
- Noise Cancelling Headphones: World-class noise cancellation headphones will allow for a better listening experience in any environment. They feature a noise-rejecting, dual-mic system for clear sound and voice pick up. The balanced audio performance can be played at any volume and includes cable-free Bluetooth pairing.
- Fidget Toy/Pop-It's: These toys provide external stimuli to focus and an outlet for pent-up nervous energy. Pop-It fidget toys also help to relieve anxiety and stress by providing something to keep your hands busy, which are the most visibly affected body part in stressful situations.

Smoking

Smoking is not permitted in the theater at any time. This includes e-cigarettes/vaping.

Strollers

Guests are encouraged to leave strollers in their vehicles prior to the arrival at the arena entrance. Small umbrella strollers with child can be used but must be collapsed and placed under your seat.

VenueShield

ASM Global has launched a new environmental hygiene protocol in response to evolving guest expectations stemming from the coronavirus pandemic. VenueShield, a comprehensive and best-in-class program, is being deployed in various stages worldwide at more than 300 ASM Global facilities in alignment with approvals from government officials and health care experts. ASM Global staff in Grand Rapids are using VenueShield protocols to reopen DeVos Performance Hall in accordance with federal, state and local guidelines.

Weapons Prohibited

Weapons include, but are not limited to, the following: firearms, explosives, stun guns, handcuffs, brass knuckles, sticks, clubs, batons, martial arts instruments, pepper spray, tear gas, knives, etc. Guests found in possession of the above-mentioned items will be asked to remove the item from the venue or dispose of it.

Guests who refuse to comply will be ejected from the venue and may be subject to arrest.

Rarely, the carry of firearms may be allowed for individuals holding a valid concealed pistol license subject to all applicable state and federal laws—please contact the ASM Global administrative office at 616-742-6500 with questions regarding specific events.

Wheelchairs

Complimentary wheelchair escorts will be provided upon request at every entry point, based on availability. Please be aware that our staff will not remain with you during an event, nor will they allow you to remain in the wheelchair for the duration of the event.
