ADA Accessibility

Venue interior
DeVos Performance Hall is fully compliant with the American with Disabilities Act. Information on accessibility can be found below. DeVos Performance Hall provides a full range of accommodations for guests with ADA requests to ensure their safety, comfort and enjoyment of our events and facilities.

Guests needing special accommodations or services should make such a request at least two (2) weeks prior to the date of the event to the ADA Coordinator at 616-742-6600.

Accessible Seating & Ticketing:
Wheelchair accessible seating and semi-ambulatory seating are located in various sections and levels throughout DeVos Performance Hall.

Please identify yourself as a guest with a disability upon purchasing tickets. When ordering accessible tickets, it is important to indicate that you require accessible seating so we can properly seat you. The companion/escort may accompany a guest with a disability only in designated seating areas. Accessible seating is available for purchase at the DeVos Place or Van Andel Arena box offices in person, online at Ticketmaster.com or through Ticketmaster's ADA sales number by phone at 800-877-7575.

Accessible Seating Terms

Wheelchair Accessible: seating location in which there are no stairs that allows for wheelchair or scooter usage.

Companion Seat: seating for individuals that are attending an event with someone who requires wheelchair or semi-ambulatory seats.

Semi-Ambulatory: seating reserved for those with limited mobility that may require walking a few incline/decline stairs.

Any questions and/or concerns should be directed to the DeVos Place Box Office. Box office hours are Monday through Friday 10:00AM to 5:00PM. Additional hours are available during events and event on-sales.

If a patron needs an accessible (ADA) seating location, but has purchased a ticket on the secondary ticket market or is using a DeVos Performance Hall season ticket that is not designated as an accessible (ADA) seating location, the patron should call the the ADA Coordinator for proper arrangements at 616-742-6600.

Accessible (ADA) Seating Relocation Policy:
Please call several days before an event to be relocated to accessible seating. Please be aware that while SMG will attempt to accommodate you however possible, we cannot guarantee that there will be an available relocation seat for you. SMG is not responsible for ticket sales for some events, and we cannot guarantee the availability of additional seats at events, particularly those events that are sold out. If you encounter an issue during an event with your ticket or seating, please request assistance from the nearest staff member.

Accessible Parking:
Parking is conveniently located under the convention center. Access to the parking lot is on Michigan Street and Lyon Street. DeVos Performance Hall parking is available 24/7 and may be paid by credit card or debit card. Parking facilities at DeVos Place are managed by the City of Grand Rapids.

There are drop-off curb cutouts in front of the theater main entrance. These make your entrance to the theater easy to maneuver. Please keep in mind that this area is for drop-offs only; parking is not permitted in this area.

Hearing Assistance:
Complimentary Assisted Listening Devices are available at DeVos Performance Hall. Please ask any staff member for assistance if you are interested in checking out a listening device. Identification is required in order to check out the device. Identification will be returned to the patron upon return of the device following the event. There are a limited number of Assisted Listening Devices and will be available on a first come, first served basis.

The Tele-coil Hearing Loop system in place for the hearing impaired will allow hearing aids to serve as wireless loudspeakers, delivering clear, sharp, customized sound right inside the ear. An induction loop system transmits magnetic energy to telecoil-equipped hearing aids through a wire that surrounds the audience. Patrons simply flip a switch on their T-coil equipped hearing aid and the sound is transmitted directly into their ears.
