Grand Rapids Ballet Presents The Nutcracker

Date: Dec 18 - Dec 31, 2020
Location(s):
The Grand Rapids Ballet's The Nutcracker Experience presented by Meijer will be available on demand December 18 - 31, 2020.

We know your family’s holidays wouldn’t be the same without The Nutcracker in 2020. That’s why Artistic Director James Sofranko is so proud to bring you a reimagined version this year—The Nutcracker Experience—that will include many of your favorite characters and dances including Drosselmeier, Clara, the Sugar Plum Fairy, and of course the Nutcracker Prince; as well as many of your favorite scenes including the Waltz of the Snowflakes, Waltz of the Flowers, The Russian Trepak, The Chinese Dragon, and more. You will hear and see the Grand Rapids Symphony, long time Nutcracker partners with the Grand Rapids Ballet, conducted by John Varineau, providing the musical score. The production was filmed explicitly for The Nutcracker Experience by SALT Creative Production Studios, and also includes a behind-the-scenes look at the artists of Michigan’s only professional ballet company. All the dancers were filmed in small “pods” of no more than 4 or 5, with a masked, limited, and socially distanced film crew. Thanks to “movie magic,” at times it may appear as if the stage is full, but in reality we had no more than one “pod” on stage at a time. Approximately 60 minutes, and hosted by Jordan Carson and Rachael Ruiz of WOOD-TV’s eightWest, this is a Nutcracker like you’ve never experienced before. Happy holidays!Watch the online Vimeo performance from the best seat in the houseyoursas many times as you like whenever you like. We recommend streaming to your smart TV for any even more immersive experience. Learn more here.

Access is only $15 so we kindly ask you purchase as many “tickets” as you will have friends and family viewing with you.
