Grand Rapids Rotary Club Charities Foundation presents “Behind the Mask” with the Grand Rapids Symphony

The Grand Rapids Rotary Charities Foundation presents “Behind the Mask,” performed by the Grand Rapids Symphony.  The New Year’s Eve celebration, December 31st, will take place at DeVos Performance Hall at 7:30 PM.

David Lockington, the Symphony Music Director, will lead the event with special guest vocalists Teri Dale Hansen (soprano), Rosena M. Hill (alto) and Nat Chandler (tenor). Teri Dale Hansen made her Broadway debut in 2002 in The Boys From Syracuse. She has appeared in numerous other Broadway performances. Rosena M. Hill made her Carnegie Hall debut in March 2008 starring in the tribute to Oscar Hammerstein with David Charles Abel conducting. She has also starred on Broadway in The Color Purple, and as the “Lady of the Lake” in the Tony award winning, Monty Python’s Spamalot. Nat Chandler made his Carnegie Hall debut in December 2008 in the world premiere of the musical Mother Russia.

The opening act of the performance features well known music from various shows like Hair, West Side Story and Chicago. The second act includes contemporary Broadway selections featuring the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber. Today’s hottest Broadway shows combined with the greatest hit shows of Sir Andrews Lloyd Webber will be featured, including music from: The Phantom Of The Opera, CATS, Evita, Wicked, The Little Mermaid, Les Miserables, Mary Poppins, Mamma Mia!, Experience a Chorus Line and Spamalot. A great night of fun and entertainment on the most exciting night of the year!

Ticket prices for the concert range from $18 to $90. There is also a Pre-Concert Reception. Prior to the concert guests may enjoy a dinner buffet with special guest David Lockington in the Monroe room at DeVos Place. The reception begins at 5:30 PM. The Rotary Charities Foundation of Grand Rapids’ primary purpose is to help support programs for challenged youth in the Greater Grand Rapids area. The Rotary Charities Foundation helps support programs focused on providing local young people with the guidance, positive experiences and support they need during this critical time in their lives.

The Grand Rapids Symphony was officially organized in 1930 and is recognized as one of America’s leading regional orchestras. Led by Music Director David Lockington and Associate Conductor John Varineau, the orchestra presents eight concert series with performances designed to capture the imagination of young children and adults alike, featuring a wide range of music and performance styles.
