Grand Rapids Symphony 2009-2010 Season Announced
The Grand Rapids Symphony announced its 2009-2010 Season, which will be a celebration of its 80th Anniversary. The new season also marks the 25th Anniversary of Symphony Associate Conductor John Varineau and 50th Anniversary of the Grand Rapids Youth Symphony.
Throughout its history the Symphony has partnered with the community leading to this landmark anniversary season. By serving, educating, and inspiring the people of West Michigan, the orchestra is fulfilling its mission to “share great music that moves the human soul.”

The 2009-2010 Season will be the eleventh season under the leadership of Music Director David Lockington, who invites everyone to be a part of the Symphony’s audience to experience the power of live music. “The Grand Rapids Symphony would not have reached its 80th Anniversary without the support of the community and we are showing our thanks by featuring music that people will enjoy and find artistically significant,” said Lockington. “I’m also very proud that this new season marks important milestones in the Symphony’s longtime commitment to provide music education to the community. Live music requires an audience. I invite everyone to experience their Grand Rapids Symphony and let’s make music together!”
